Reiki is a healing art. You will be able to affect change in your own energy field as well as that of others. It is important to have a teacher present with the student during learning to identify such things as proper hand placement and make corrections as needed. It is also helpful for students to practice with each other in the presence of a teacher so that they can ask questions about what they are experiencing and feeling.
Learning Reiki is a good starting point for experiencing and working with healing energy and a wonderful method for depending awareness of universal energy. In general, Reiki complements other healing methods and spiritual practices. There are no hard and fast rules about how to approach starting Reiki and starting healing. You will only know it once you experience the universal power within yourself.
Activation of Reiki within a persons hands is made possible by a simple process called an "attunement". The attunement or empowerment is performed by a Reiki Master during a workshop. It is the attunement which allows the person to tap into and channel the Reiki energy. It cannot be learned from books or just being talked about. Without the attunement you may direct healing energy, but it will not be Reiki energy.
The Reiki Master Level is the Teacher's Level - you, a Reiki Practitioner, receive the energetic and practical knowledge which allows you to attune others to Reiki. Many Reiki Master students may decide not to teach, however, by undertaking a Reiki Master Course you are also furthering your commitment to Reiki as a spiritual practice to assist you in your healing, growth and development. For this reason an ample amount of time should pass between Reiki 2 and this course.
Healing attunements seem to have derived from the work of William Rand, and are designed to be used to help a client open themselves fully to the effects of Reiki. I see them more as a Reiki ‘blessing’. Reiki Psychic surgery is a ritual which focuses your intent in a particular way. The microcosmic orbit meditation takes the energies associated with the Reiki symbols round the functional and governor channels, and crystal healing grids are used to send distant Reiki 24 hours a day by using ‘charged’ crystals in a particular geometric pattern. ‘Antahkaranas’ are Asian symbols that produce a healing effect of their own, without the need to be attuned to them. The basics of pendulum dowsing are presented in the manual, to allow students to look in more detail at their clients’ chakra systems and to contact their spirit guides if they wish to pursue this aspect of Reiki practice.
I absolutely LOVED this Reiki course, in particular Melissa’s passion and clear love of what she does. I found all of the information clear and easy to understand and really enjoyed the self exploration and the encouragement to go within as part of the journey. I loved Master Melissa’s Reiki Master course. Having done the Basic Reiki and then Reiki II in person at weekend workshops some years ago, I had realized that I had missing information, sometimes there is a lot to take in. It was when I decided to do my Reiki Master Certification that I wanted to be able to take my time, fill in the gaps and take in more information, breath the energy, after all I see my responsibility of working with healing energy to be delivered in a way that as a practitioner I have the knowledge and opportunity to not only have a Master that is coming from a space of love and compassion but who can also deliver the true theme of Reiki and its history and its attunements, this course had this and more, I loved the added crystal and animal chakra information, journeying through this Reiki Master course also gave me the opportunity to grow into the Master Reiki, universal life force Practitioner I dreamed I am to be. With this course I was able to spend time with the symbols, fine tune and observe the energy and my hands and the positions, listen to my intuition and practice letting go of the intention, so as not to drain my own energy or let my force try to direct. I learned also how to refresh myself, cut the connections and give myself some time, self healing and clearing and scanning great tool, these are so much more within me and understood now,I was aware of the spiritual detox and able to look after myself and let it happen, clean away the cobwebs and debris that were hindering my growth. Upon first meeting our tutor she made me feel completely relaxed and she had a calm and peaceful air about her which rubbed off on you straight away….she has a wonderful teaching manner that was most captivating and she held your undivided attention throughout. She made me feel completely safe during my attunement and her care and nurture was a perfect balance. I was lucky that there was only me and one other student, so we had more time with the tutor on a personal level.
When there are financial limitations, the advantages of a one-time investment in learning to practice Reiki self-care over paying for repeated sessions are obvious. When there is illness in a family and it is no longer feasible for the patient to self-treat, one or more family members can learn First degree (hands-on) Reiki and treat the patient (and other family members) as well as themselves.
What do we look for in someone when considering them as Reiki Teachers? An enthusiasm for the subject, humility, experience, a desire to help and serve, an open heart? Ironically most people who I have taught to be Reiki Teachers were usually the last to believe they could be. If you feel a pull to do this, that is sufficient for me and together we will develop your skills and practice to another level giving you the knowledge and confidence to take someone through Reiki training yourself.
