The third symbol is an essential part of the Second Degree. It lets you send healing energy and mental messages over a distance. This is similar to commonly experienced telepathic phenomena as we all know them, e.g. you think of a friend and at that very moment this person calls you. Reiki energy can be transmitted that same way but more effectively and stronger. The 'receiver' and the 'sender' experience the treatment as if it were a treatment given one-on-one in the same room. With the distance healing symbol you can also work in the past, present and future.
Preparing for professional practice: If you’re considering offering Reiki as a professional practitioner, it’s important to have lots of practice giving Reiki sessions (one of my former teachers said you should give at minimum 100 sessions before you even think about charging and working professionally!). It will also be necessary to practice the talks, lectures and meditations you will be leading in class. Make outlines of your talks and practice into a tape recorder. Listen to your tapes and take notes on ways you can improve your talks. Then continue to practice until you are confident. Don't be afraid to use your outline in class. When teaching, relax and let the Reiki energy do the work.
Now, individuals throughout the world can learn about Reiki, take all three levels of courses and become skilled and knowledgeable at treating themselves and others. For those students who wish to, they can complete the Reiki Master Course which allows them to teach and learn to connect others to the Reiki Source. Some people say that they feel very detached from the world whilst undertaking a Reiki course, and that returning to ‘normal life’ can become very daunting and loud. Therefore we always recommend that you are kind to yourself for the first few days. Drink plenty of water and ensure that you are able (if possible) to rest and enjoy plenty of quiet time.
We have developed a course of more than 1200 hours of training such that our Reiki graduates can be considered for positions in the professional health and spa communities and eventually gain access to insurance receipts for this work. Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. I had been teaching telepathic interspecies communication online and distance for years, and I knew that one of the wonderful benefits of Reiki is that it can be practiced at a distance. Becoming a Reiki Master is the next step after having reached the Second Degree. With receiving the Reiki Master attunement you will be fully opened up to the Reiki Energy. The training takes online 2 times 4/5 hours of intensive training and is available to those who are practising Reiki at the Second Degree level for four months or longer. The joys of becoming a Reiki Master are many and you don't necessarily have to teach in order for the Master training to be useful. The additional healing energy, symbols, techniques and knowledge will add value to your healing abilities. Treating yourself, giving yourself and others healing attunements and treating others in person and at a distance will all be noticeably improved. The fact that you can pass Reiki on to friends and family is also a definite plus. Many take the Master training with just this in mind. However, if you ever decide to formally teach, you will be able to do so. As each person takes the Reiki Master training, and increases their personal vibration, this adds to the vibration of the whole planet!
The only prerequisite for this course is that you are open to learning. If you are finding skepticism and doubt are weighing you down, take some time and come back when you are ready. If you are ready to create change in your body, mind and life and are open to letting go of some of the beliefs that brought you to that place, Reiki can help you do that.

You may want to contact several Masters before you make your decision. The Master who lives nearest may not necessarily be the right Master for you - many Masters teach in different areas. Trust your feelings - if you have any doubts, look further and take your time. Meet the Masters if you can, or at least speak with them on the phone in order to receive a personal impression. The Second level enables a healer to send Reiki across time and space. By time, we mean that Reiki can be sent to past or future events, for eg. a hurtful event in the past, or an interview in the future. By space, we mean that the patient could be half-way across the world from the healer, and still receive Reiki healing. Time and space do not limit Reiki.

I had a wonderful teacher who put us all at ease and taught it as though we had not already learned it so the bits I was not too sure about were fine and I know I will continue to study the materials and practice all those important exercises and meditations way into the future. I was also relieved there were only 2 other students there as it was very easy to discuss stuff and share experiences. When I first did my 1 & 2 there were a dozen so it was hard to do that and I was so much more nervous and shy then. By keeping classes small I felt there was more to gain.
We spend some time talking about how to develop intuition and give some suggestions for moving beyond the basic “Reiji ho” approach. We will practice working intuitively in a number of different ways and introduce a method where we can directly perceive someone’s energy system, and we also explore some “mind’s eye” visual shortcuts. Again, students will practise various intuitive exercises on their group of friends and relatives, gaining facility through repetition.
When seeking a Reiki Master to take the Master training from, it is important to ask her/him exactly what you will be able to do after you take the Master training from them. Will you receive the complete training and be able to initiate others into all the degrees including full Reiki Master or will something be left out, requiring you to take additional sub-levels or degrees and pay additional fees? Because of the changes some have made to the system of Reiki, this is a very important question.
