We include a range of original and non-original symbols on the course, though we don’t want overemphasise the use of symbols, because we believe that they have assumed an unnecessary importance within the world of western Reiki. The symbols that you learn on the Master course allow you to send Reiki to heal at the soul level, produce balance in an instant, deal with aspects of karma, and focus energy intensely on the mind or the emotions. There three levels in reiki namely level 1, level 2 and the final level which gives you the status of a Reiki master which is level 3. Keeping in mind our hectic and busy lifestyle it might not always be possible for everyone to attend Reiki Healing Training personally, but we live in a day and age where technology and internet make a lot of things very easy for us.
During your Reiki home study training course you will read text, look at images and read summaries, you will listen to Taggart talking, be guided through energy exercises and watch demonstrations, and of course you will be in contact with us regularly and asking questions when you need to. In fact, I think that this home study course has some definite advantages for you when compared with a ‘live’ course: instead of having the time available to you limited by the length of a two day course, you can now work by yourself for a much longer period, and you will have the opportunity to spend a lot longer working with the various exercises. This is why Reiki home study is so effective: you have the opportunity to work with the energy for far, far longer than is possible on any live courses, and you receive the undivided attention of your teacher.
First degree is usually taught over 8-12 hours. Students practice Reiki self-care and share Reiki with one another. This class prepares students to give themselves daily Reiki for life. Students learn hand placements to use when sharing Reiki with family or friends, either through a full session or an abbreviated chair session, as well as how to offer Reiki in acute situations and through informal "spot therapy." Reiki classes offered to nurses and other health care professionals often include content on Reiki application in clinical settings. Although the class is primarily experiential, the Reiki master gives an overview of the history and precepts of Reiki. Most importantly, the Reiki master initiates students so they become empowered conduits for Reiki energy. Traditional First degree training includes four initiations. For most people who want to practice on themselves and family, First-degree training is all they need.

Each online Reiki class I offer is unique because each class is a co-creation by me and the people in the class. You’ll learn Reiki at home and you’ll learn with other students. This is important because we all learn from one another. All trainings include discussion of spirituality, science, history, safety, combining Reiki with conventional medicine, and the Reiki Precepts, but different groups go more in-depth in some areas than in others.
I realise that this question is a few years old but the answer will remain relevant for anyone interested in practicing Reiki. I’m a Reiki Master who lived, studied and trained in Japan the traditional methods of Usui Sensei by one of Dr Hayashi’s original students who still lives today. It took me almost three years to become a Master. Each level has 4 degrees of studies and it shocks me to learn that people call themselves a “Reiki Master” after doing a weekend course or even worse taking an online course. This is NOT Reiki!
The basic effect of the Reiki Master attunements is to fully open up your energy system to Reiki, causing a significant increase in the flow of healing energy. This increases the effectiveness of your treatments beyond that achieved at Second Degree level. On top of this, you are attuned to further symbols, and learn additional techniques, enabling you to treat others more effectively, pass on the Reiki ability to others, and fully experience the flow of Reiki through your being.
I really enjoyed the Reiki Master Course. It has given me so much for very little I paid. To anyone reading this I would encourage you to sign up for this course. Its easy to understand and the benefits are substantial. If your a person that finds it hard to complete online courses know that I am that type of person too, but I really suprised myself by completing the course in just a month! Loved it very much!
After attunement, the Master will adjust your frequency to the healing frequency. After a few months, it might get out of sync, and you might not feel ok again. At this point, you will be able to ask the Reiki Master to lock your frequency in your aura forever, and this process is done using the Secret Symbols, that have been re-discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in March 1922. These symbols have been secretly passed along to the most devoted Reiki practitioners since then, and some teachers even charged $10,000.
When there are financial limitations, the advantages of a one-time investment in learning to practice Reiki self-care over paying for repeated sessions are obvious. When there is illness in a family and it is no longer feasible for the patient to self-treat, one or more family members can learn First degree (hands-on) Reiki and treat the patient (and other family members) as well as themselves.
You can learn reiki in person through a class, or online through remote coursework. Whether taught in person or through a distance learning class, the benefits of reiki education and attunement are the same. The main difference is cost. In person classes tend to be more expensive, and often do not provide much in the way of course materials for later reference.
Reiki training can be quite emotional and intense, that is why all my Reiki training is conducted in small groups or 'one-on-one'. Also, as my student I guarantee your comfort and well-being. The heights of experience you gain by moving on to the next level which is Reiki level 2 includes a more in-depth experience with the ki which furthers your spiritual development and your self-healing practice, as the Reiki symbols will be taught to you. In this level, the knowledge that will help you to give others(whether in person or distant) the Reiki treatment will be explained to you. It is generally advised that you wait a couple of months from your first level attunement before you move into the second.
There is one point I cannot stress enough: you will be a healer for yourself, however you will be a 'tool giver' or a 'facilitator' for others. What I mean by that is that people heal themselves with the energy they receive and you are the person that makes that achievable for them. You show them the way to heal, and by giving the Reiki energy and supplying them with the Life Force Energy they then use it to heal themselves.
The third level is Reiki master. Traditionally, the Reiki master level of training was by invitation only. This invitation was extended only to accomplished students who were prepared to devote their lives to teaching people to practice Reiki. Traditionally, master training is done not through course work, but rather through an extended apprenticeship with a Reiki master. Only Reiki masters can teach Reiki to others.
Practicing in person with your fellow students also provides immediate feedback. In my Reiki workshops, I always have students practice with each other more than once and with different students, so you get a sense of working with different people’s energy. Our individual energy is an imprint unique and distinct to each of us (and it’s one of the things I love about my work, noticing the beautiful differences from client to client, student to student.)

Students spoke highly of instructor, Rosemary Owen, who teaches in a peaceful manner, although some noted her voice may have been too low a volume. Before teaching your first class, additional practice doing the attunements is a good idea. This can be done on friends who already have Reiki. Ask them if they would like to be an "attunement model" and let them know that the additional attunements will be beneficial for them and will refine and strengthen their Reiki energies. Most will gladly agree. If you can't find someone to practice on, you can use a teddy bear or a pillow to represent a person.

Learning Reiki is a good starting point for experiencing and working with healing energy and a wonderful method for deepening awareness of universal energy. Second degree is distant healing: students learn to replace the hand-to-body contact with a mental connection when needed so that healing can be offered even when touch is impossible or inappropriate. (For example, psychotherapists may choose to learn Second degree to bring another dimension of healing into therapy sessions.) Second degree techniques can also be used to enhance hands-on treatment.
The duration of a Reiki treatment depends on the magnitude of the problem. For small problems like common colds, fever, sinusitis, etc, between 4 to 7 days is recommended. For long standing or chronic problems like skin diseases, allergies, arthritis, diabetes, cancer, etc, a minimum of 21 days healing is suggested, and if needed, another 21 days of healing after 3 months.
The course is flexible, easy to follow, heaps of resources at hand and support is always at hand and it is self passed. You would spend more on a material item any day of the week such as tablets for pain or medicines and vitamins, yet this is a gift that keeps on giving and allows you to help people in physical and emotional pain and suffering and you can even help your animals and pets!
Home study, or distance learning as it applies to Reiki has long been misunderstood due to the confusion around the Reiki ‘attunements’. Reiki attunements are what activate Reiki to flow in your system and this does require a real live Reiki Master to carry out the attunement. However, it does not have to be done face to face. Much like when we learn to send Reiki at Reiki Level 2, Reiki is not bound by geography, and attunements are equally successful done face to face or via distance.

The Second level enables a healer to send Reiki across time and space. By time, we mean that Reiki can be sent to past or future events, for eg. a hurtful event in the past, or an interview in the future. By space, we mean that the patient could be half-way across the world from the healer, and still receive Reiki healing. Time and space do not limit Reiki.
I have sincerely enjoyed this course and learnt a lifetime of new energies and how to use them in accordance to my daily living and way of helping people. The course was easy to read and understand with the time frame being self paced. The online tutorials made learning simple but enjoyable. After Mrs. Takata passed on in December, 1980, the twenty-two Masters she had initiated continued to teach and eventually began initiating other Masters. At first they taught in the same way Mrs. Takata had done, teaching the complete system in three degrees. Eventually some Masters began making changes to the system, adding knowledge and healing skills they had acquired from experience and inner guidance. Some took the third degree that originally contained the complete Master training and broke it up into two or more parts. Some actually broke the Master degree up into as many as five parts, calling each part a new degree.
